There are different types of effects.

Ignition effect (kaibaman)
Trigger effect (pinch hopper)
Continuous effect (swordswoman)

To stop continuous effect, you need effect negation. Armades won't work

some cards have auto-effects, they are always enabled like amazoness swordswoman or Destiny HERO Decider. Notice that the card description doesn't say: "Once per turn You can" or something similar. Which means the card requires no activation and it will always have its effect enabled UNLEAST you use some card like forbidden chalice on them.

Pharmacist

armades cannot stop continuous effect like that of swordswoman. BTY continous effects can only be stopped by forbidden chalice.
