Farm standard duelists for keys. Farm ranked duels for keys. Once you have that going, farm legendary duelists with their optimal farming decks and try to hit skills. When you obtain duplicate skills, you get 15 gems each.
Outside from events and delays to maintenance, this from my 84 consecutive days of experience has been the most reliable method to getting gems. This is assuming you've reached stage 60 and have no more gems to obtain through characters.

Hack the game system n database --> konami will do emergency maintenance --> free gem for us :)

There is no other way, grinding LD lv.40 is the best choice to get gems at that point, or from event,or hope that konami doing emergency maintenance

Can I believe you're f2p player? If right, Same with me, but I still at stage 58, my way for gems:
1. Check 4 free gems places (fountain on gate, rooftop at store, garbage can at studio, and farthest lamp from PvP stage)
2. Done all weekly missions
3. Done all daily loaner deck challenge, random prizes, one of it is 3 gems
4. Grinding LD Lv.40 with my char that has many skills, so each time you get skill, it has big chances to be converted with 15 gems, good enough IMO, for me now it's tea, pegasus, yami, and weevil
