For posterity, enemy controller and insect imitation will make it miss timing because their tributes are costs, but cocoon of ultra evolution will NOT, because it tributes and summons simultaneously (the tribute is not a cost).

Basically if there is an event directly after the destruction of Pinch Hopper it won't activate. So tributing it for a summon won't activate, neither will enemy controller tribute etc. BUT insect queen effect WILL TRIGGER pinch hopper, two pronged destruction WILL TRIGGER pinch hopper (good to use on pinch hopper+warm worm, pinch hopper will still trigger)

Can someone explain why Pinch Hoppers effect works when it was tributed by Summoner of illusion?
Shouldnt the last effect be "a fashion monster is special summoned"?

Thank you guys

To clarify: this ONLY happens with "when... you can..."-effects. "If... you can..."-effects don't miss the timing, and effects that lack "you can" entirely are mandatory to activate so those can't miss the timing either.

Not a bug. For a "when... you can..."-effect, the timing described by "when" has to be the last thing that happened (excluding the "clean up", such as Raigeki being sent to the Grave after activation).
When you Tribute Summon a monster, first Pinch Hopper is sent to the Grave, and then the high-lvl monster is summoned (effects cannot interfere with an already resolving sequence, but are delayed until after). Since the last thing that happened was a summon, NOT Pinch Hopper being sent to the Grave, it misses the timing.
