Why citadel whale can't negate geargianchor effect ?

Is it some kind of bug or is there any special kind of mechanism ? It only target one , and no other target, because there is only one other geargia monster. Why it can't negate ?

Ignore the people saying Geargianchor targets. Targeting is the action of selecting a target/ targets of an effect when u pay the cost and declare the activation of the card effect. geargianchor selects and destroys on resolution, doesn't target.

Because Geargia is the most broken thing they ever put in this game, surpassing Sylvan by MILES.

Despite what people say/believe, Geargianchor do target(they facking select what targets to destroy, how much more simple it has to be), but they target after the effect has already been activated. Whale can negate an effect before it was activated. But once it got activated, whale cannot negate it.

Yup. SSA is playable but not even tier 2. Way too slow

Because Anchor's effect doesn't say target. It's really that simple. If a card clearly states "Target...", than Whale can negate and destroy.

Welp, that sucks. I guess Whale isn't that great in the meta anymore. Can't deal with sylvans, or geargia, and there is nothing to deal with masked heroes.

Geargias destroy on resolution rather than activation, so they don't target despite selecting what they destroy. Geargias also destroy Hazys and they can't be targeted by opponent effects.
