Question

When using the trap card "KickFire", what 'card effects' work for adding a counter?

I used treacherous traphole on my own monsters and that worked to add counters, but then my monsters effect applied next turn and I used it to destroy another fire monster and that didnt work. Do only trap card effects apply to fire starter or is it spell and monster effects as well?

Maybe you didn´t qualify for all 3 conditions. Remember, Kickfire adds a counter if:
- The FIRE monster(s) was destroyed by effect
- Was face up when it got destroyed
- Can only be done once per turn.
