Farming standard duelists can be good for:
Attribute / Spell/Trap / R gems (you'll need them to upgrade certain cards to glossy / prismatic)
Experience
Gold (for new players only)

Farming standard duelists is not recommended for:
Cards
Gate Keys (you'll get more than enough)
Gold (for older accounts because you'll also get more than enough of it)

If you desperately want to run a deck with only Normal monsters and you don't want to get them from the boxes / structure decks, then you can farm some from the standard duelists. Or if you want to build a Hungry Burger deck for the lolz as the anon below suggested. But you only get meme cards from standard duelists.
