Get good? It takes very little skill to be good at this game. Seriously. With all the cheesy decks out there, a new player could pick it up in a heartbeat.
Why are you even mixing discussion the game itself being rigged in many ways (even giveaway events for God's sake) with needing skill to be successful?
One has nothing to do with the other.
The fact was and is that YGO is probably the most expensive game in the world if you want to be truly competitive for extended periods of time.
Not all TCG are expensive. Have you heard of the Gwent? You will be shocked to learn that you can get for free not only every card in the game, but also its premium animated version.. But if you want to start now you've already missed a whole bunch of events.. One of them was when you could get an ultra rare gold card from each pack!
