Chain not working properly?

So i had a Vampire Vamp on board, my opponent (lvl 30 Yubel) used a Tribute to The Doomed to kill her, i answered to it with a dust tornado, then both tribute and vamp were destroyed, but shouldn't only the tribute be destroyed and thus not activating and not destroying my vamp? or i'm missing something?

You didn't negate it, so it goes through. Same thing if you activatede Mystical Space Typhoon on it.
