I watched an offical Yu-Gi-Oh Duel Links video and noticed that there is "skills" tab at the top of the screen. Then I thought playable characters may have skills which help players win a duel.

Yes, each character has their own skills, and that are used to increase your starter Life Points, draw a card that you want, and so on. You can get them by leveling characters up or winning a duel against legend duelists, such as Joey Wheeler and Bandit Keith.
