Hi all, I need help to study Yu-Gi-Oh's chain link rule. I'm new to Yu-Gi-Oh card game and like to start playing it when Duel Links is released globally. Now I am trying to be familiar with the card game, but chain link rule makes me annoyed, While I read the description of the rule, I grasp nothing. Please help me out If there is a chain link expert.

Can someone help me too please?
I have "Metalmorph", and "Cocoon of Ultra Evolution" set in my trap/magic zone.
The opponent used "Double cyclone" on my set Metalmorph, i activated chain it in response and attached Metalmorph onto my insect; However i am unable to chain(2) and use my "Cocoon of Ultra Evolution" to tribute it, and the cyclone just destroyed my Metalmorph... Why am i unable to activate Cocoon?

The chain rule is simple.
1.The last card activate resolve first.
2.Only quickplay spell, trap, and some monster effect that label "quick effect" ,or "during either player turn" activate in a chain.
2.You can't chain anythings to counter trap card except counter trap card.
And the funny thing is the chain rule implement in this game is wrong.
In the proper yu-gi-oh you able to chain card on your own card too, not just the other player card, which is sometime unable in this game.

Is there a way in the game to properly stack chain link orders. For example multiple trigger effects (let's assume all are optional since mandatory effects must go first on the chain) that activate in the GY. In game it just seems to pick the order of the chain. Was wondering if there was a way to chain block against divine wrath and things. Thanks.

What difference does it make which card resolves first? I can't see any value in chaining at all. What does it accomplish?

There are 3 types of chains speeds from lowest to highest,Speed 1 is normal spells, equip spells, continuous, field, monster effects, and ritual.
Speed 2 has normal and continuous traps, flip monster effects, along with quick-play spells.
Speed 3 is only counter traps.
If a card's speed is equal or a higher,it can chain to the the card,if it is lower,it cannot.
Chains also resolve backwards with the card activated at the end first.
Speed 1 chain cards also cannot chain to each other unless they activate at the same time.

Spells and traps can be linked together in activation to create chains when the activation chain resolves effects are activated in reverse order. Some Card abilities have texts writen in making them unchainable with same card and spells and trap have various activation speeds as well.

Ever play MTG? The chain works the same as the stack, so if someone plays a card, and you activate a card in response, your card's effect resolves first, before your opponents. If you play a card and your opponent chains onto it, their card resolves first.

Think of the chain link like a stack of pancakes, each time you activate a card in a chain, it's effect goes ontop of the stack. But you can only eat the pancake ontop, so you have to eat the pancake ontop (its effect activates first) then the ones below in order of top to bottom.
