XZ tank cannon any good on traps?

I've used an XYZ deck for a few weeks now and I've enjoyed it the only problem is that xz tank cannon doesn't really cover his place in my deck. Why is the other players trap card still able to activate even when the trap does not does not say it can activate when destroyed?

they can chain(http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Chain) it to your card's effect meaning u target the card if the choose to activate it they can.XZ is the best b/c it targets face down spell/traps which is a big deal
