Are you using modded APK? if yes, DELETE THAT GARBAGE MODDED APK first, and download a normal apk from playstore, i guaranteed that you can update after that. because i use zenfone 2 same as you, but there's no problem at all.

You can get a fresh unmodded apk from apkpure. I do that for the Android emulator I use on PC since it doesn't come with the app store. They basically store back ups of apks with no changes to the package. If your phone won't let you download it this may be your only option.
