yubel inflicts effect damage when battling with a monster. the idea of this deck is to use legendary fisherman, legendary oceand and spirit barrier to stop yubel from battling your monsters and thus stop her from inflicting effect damage
but spirit barrier protect legendary ocean from battle and make direct attack instead with spirit barrier make the battle damage 0
so yubel cannot deal effect damage because she is not battle a monster
and while "umi" on the field LF protected from spell too
Yes, but they idea is the following: when you have the legendary ocean (or umi) your opponent can't attack legendary fisherman. Thus Yubel can't inflict her effect damage
Use magical mallets or reinforcements skill to maintain at least 1 legendary fisherman in your hand, she'll nuke her monsters but she cant attack directly herself, she tries to summon out ultimate nightmare as soon as she can so if you can survive nuking then summon another legendary fisherman next turn she'll normally go for ultimate nightmare next turn then be locked down.
