I find it more enjoyable to play with non-meta decks, especially as someone who plays the game more for fun rather than competition. Special PvP events like KC Cup are pretty stressful for me.

I wouldn't say I enjoy playing at lower ranks as I find it's still just filled with strong decks that are climbing and are there due to inactivity/lack of participation, not always a lack of skill. I do like playing character decks though and in particular love to play Yusei's deck. Unfortunately we're still missing a lot of cards and I don't think Scrap-Iron Scarecrow will be made available to players, although it isn't that strong.

In Ranked Duel, yes, I prefer to stay at lower ranks since I'm not interested to become KOG. It takes a lot time but with a so-so rewards. Also, it's boring for me after Platinum, many different players but all uses the same copy-paste meta deck...
But, for PvP events like KC Cup, I love it! Lots of rewards and it's fun for me since it didn't take a lot time.
Even non-meta decks can competed really well in KC Cup without stress! Just built your deck well, perfectly master it, and gain a lot experience so you can understand how the meta decks works + how to handle them. I use standard U.A deck and I can reach level max.
Experience is the key. Yeah, now it's stressful! Before, when I'm new, I also keep losing and stressing myself in KC Cup because I'm still trying to master my deck perfectly and understand how the meta deck works. But, now I enjoy them and can win until level max without stressing :)
