How do I activate the effect, "banish a dark monster from your grave yard to equip a light monster"

Read the card text again.
Thus cards effect has two requirements to activate and my guess is, that you don't meet one of them (probably the second one):
1) You need to have a DARK attribute Monster in your graveyard.
2) Your opponent needs to control a Lvl 4 or lower LIGHT attribute Monster.
-> That means, if your opponent doesn't have such monster open on his side of the field, you cannot activate Dark Blade's effect, since there is no secondary target.
Once both requirements are met, you should be able to activate the effect, simply by clicking on your open Dark Blade on the field during your main phase and click "use effect".
The card is to techy anyways, since you are never guranteed to run against an opponent with LIGHT Monsters. (Could combo with DNA-Transplant however)So this card is basically just a 1800Atk Beater with a Bonus effect you'll never use.
