I was so disappointed after testing Mermails. U.A. seems to be best we can get from this box but I just don't think it's enough to warrant an investment. Imma wait until 5Ds after all.
They lacked turn 1 plays. Maybe with Tuners we might see some more potential but I'm still gonna test with real cards before spending gems XD.
U.A. might not be on the same level as Vampires, but the potential is there. If we get more U.A. support, we might just have a solid Tier 1.
yah, atlanteans were my favorite additions but they're still underwhelming for the current meta.
I still have a couple of weeks before my gems start to expire, might look into finally getting Canadia.
Out of all archetypes in this whole box, not counting staples ST nor ice barrier/ cloudian; only UA and atlantean are good.
Koaki meiru won't work properly.
Mermail is weak.
Aqua actress only for fun.
Youou can also play ocean keeper + cranium + atlantean discard fodder (fun deck)
I'm probably just going to quit this box after I get galaxy cyclone. As much as I want to try U.A., I just think that it will take too long to build a deck for them and I don't even know how good it will be without all of the cards. Maybe if we got more support later I would come back to this. Idk Synchros will be the thing next and I should probably just hold out for the next box.
After using the Event U.A. Deck, I see their potential...I can see them doing OK without triple midfielder, but I wouldn't invest in them just yet...maybe after the first set of Synchro Support. I hope you don't have to spend too much to get that Cyclone xD.
90 packs left right now and no galaxy cyclone after about 2,500 gems and 30 something dollars spent. So I can tell where Konami is going with this. lol I may try for U.A. later. If Mermails really aren't that good, then at least that might spare you from running into your best pal Mako too much.
I think most want to use Mermails as an OTK deck here on Duel Links, and that´s why the archetype is failling. They are missing Dragoons, they are too bricky to be used as that and they don´t have any turn 1 play. But the SSA version might have alot of potential!
Mermail's worst setback is their lack of a turn 1 play. It makes it really dependent on the coin toss...I tried like 3 different strategies and just ultimately decided that Whale was the best choice to combo with Atlanteans. It's much more consistent and doesn't rely too much on the coin toss. It shares the same weakness' as before, to the only new additions are the spot removal and faster Whale.
exactly! Heavy Infantry gives another combo to get 2 monsters on the field and summon Whale. And the adittional effects of the atlanteans help a little with card economy, allowing you to snipe some monsters and backrow in the process. Even Megalo has some utility, because a hand with him and SSA can be powerfull if the enemy can´t handle it. Not perfect, but I´m still testing builds!
Hey saladfingers someone mentioned aqua actress is strong deck somewhere so I purposely build and tested out a few deck and, they indeed are strong in a casual environment!
Searchers, special summons, quick deck thinning, swarming, and with 2 continuous spells + umi, enemy cant get over your monster with regular lvl 4 monster.
Combine them with tripper mercury and storm = guaranteed win :D
That's cool, I couldn't test them last night but I'm still looking to build something. They do have good effects but they just seem to bad on paper XD. I think I might just go with a Mako build.
I finally got to test it this morning before work and was I surprised. I tried a similar build to what's posted on the Aquaactress page, but my second build included SSA & Whale. It's a huge commitment to the field (Complete backrow saturation), but it set up really fast and has amazing protection thanks to SSA.
I found some decent Turn 1 plays with Mermails actually.
1) If you bring out Abyssmegalo you can search for the Mizuchi or Cetus. If you're up against Aster Mizuchi is great and shuts down HEROS because they need spells. Cetus also comes in handy against control decks.
2) You can play Skreech and if they destroy it send either of the Atlanteans to the grave to destroy two cards on the field
(basically a treacherous trap hole but you can target spells/traps too)
3) Setting Abyyshilde first turn and having your opponent destroy it lets you bring out a bigger card (Abyssmegalo or Abyssleed) if you have one in hand
I'm still learning the deck and trying out new things... but there are definitely Turn 1 plays.
lol Storm + Mercury, game :v!
I haven't found it bricking much, but that's probably because I shuffle really well. It's nice to have cards in my hand after so long.
Most of the plays rely on prediction, making them unreliable. We need a stronger setup, something that can begin to dominate early on. Most of the plays I've seen summon big guys to the field without protection, so it's risky. The Scales can be baited quite easily as well. We need Diva :v
Okay a few questions:
1) how many more gems you have and when they expire
2) do you like/ need other cards in this box e.g. dark world, aqua actress, mermail, etc
3) do you have other cards that can significantly boost the strength of UA? Cosmic cyclone and cards that SS themselves e.g. fire/ thunder vassals, etc
tell me about i cant believe it yet. have about 15k gems and expiring daily. I have 2 cosmic cyclone but have my ur dream ticket still. i like mermails and got one abyssmegalo in the process. dont care too much about other cards in this deck except the cyclone one and mermails look fun but expensive so prolly not going for em.
taking ur advice ill probably buy packs as my gems expire considering
