Deck Advice

Legendology
So I just started playing this game two weeks ago, so I'm WAY behind. I was able to get to gold 2 with a random deck I created. Just looking for any advice.
Legendology
I don't have a ton of the cards you guys tend to mention which is why I'm asking. Just some beginner tips would help.

For starters, make a deck that has no more than 20 cards. Select the cards you really need, this way you have a high chance of drawing them.

Anoymous
After that make sure you have a healthy Monster/Trap/Spell ratio. In normal Beatdown decks i run around 8 spells/traps and 12 Monster cards.

And as last, foces on one or two packs. Dont spend your gems at all the different packs. Because that way the chance of you getting a lot of good cards is pretty low.

Thanks for the advice. Iv'e been running 20 cards and have focused on Ultimate Rising deck as I understand it has the most balance. I just spent 1000 gems on the new release and trying my hand at Red eyes deck. Seems OK so far.

What is a "beat down" deck? Sorry for the dumb question.
<< Anonymous(Legendology)
Anoymous
basically it's a deck with high attack monsters

I think Anonymous description of a "beat down" deck is a little vague.

I would like to explain it more in detail.
Most average decks run 12 monsters.
Out of 12 monsters, 2 monsters on average are boss monsters.

I.E they are monsters above level 4.
Monsters above level 4 often need to be tribute summon or special summon etc.

Decks which have "Boss monsters" are consider normal decks.

"Beat Down Decks" don't have "Boss monsters".

"Beat Down Deck try to use level 4 or lower monsters in such a way as to make them seem like Bosses!

For example:
They might have a level 4 monster with 1,700 attack.

Than they will add equip spell to buff it by 500.

The low level monster will than have 2,200 attack.

Basically, You are trying to beat down your opponent with monsters which are considered small monsters.

The reason I explained this in more detail is because I don't want you to get confused the character Skill Kaiba has!

The game gave him a skill called Beat Down!
Than it only works if you have monsters level 5+.

I don't want you to get confused.

When people talk about "Beat Down" decks they are talking about decks filled with level 4 or lower monsters.

Than they plan to use some sort of combo play to make them stronger to seem like bigger monsters.

The whole character "Beat Down" thing is simply how the game company tries to confuse people.

Don't pay much attention go the character skill names because the game made them up.

Thanks for the great feedback. So, in your opinion Player J, what type of starting deck do you recommend for a beginner?

Yami Yugi - Power of Dark!

I think it benefits players the most to start leveling Yami first!

The reason why is because the game starts you off with either Yami or Kaiba.

The thing I discovered as I have been playing the game is Kaiba gives you better farming cards!

I think the cards you get from fighting Legendary Duelist Kaiba are better than the ones from Yugi.

When you are using Yami as your character, You will fight against Kaiba.

Basically, You want to duel against kaiba as much as possible!

The game doesn't allow characters to fight themselves.

For example:
If your starting character is Yami, You can't duel Yami at the gate.

You have to be someone else character in order to duel against Yami!

If you look at some of the promo's, You will see that they give Enemy Control as a Kaiba drop vs Yami mystic box drop!

Enemy control is 100% better than mystic box.
It is very universal.
It is considered a staple card.

You want to duel against Kaiba as much as possible.
The only person who duels against him the most is Yami.

This is why I think players should play as Yami tons in the begin!

I have noticed the following things:

When you play as Yami, Kaiba shows up among your standard duelist from time to time.

When you play as Rex, Weevil shows up among your standard duelist.

Weevil = Rex
Mako = Mai

Those are the ones I noticed.

I just unlocked Kaiba so I will be dueling him as often as I can. I dont have access to my deck at this time but I will post it when I can and tell me what you think.

If you want an econ(s) to drop, you need a deck to farm him with 7k-8k. Or else you will waste your keys. White keys are so hard to get, so I suggest you save them until you can build a kaiba farming deck (search it on youtube). You will need more than 1, bc almost everyone runs 2-3 econs rn. Another card you should get is vigilance, 2-3 copies of it.

You need to wait it out. If he appears in duel world, then okay just duel him. But if you want to spend your keys, better save them first. I got my first econ after playing this game for like 3 months, and I scored 5k every time (which is not enough, you need 7k-8k). Trust me, Kaiba is the hardest to farm and to drop anything decent. He never dropped a single econ to me before.

I think I might of confused you Legendology!

Kaiba can show up 2 different ways.

1) Kaiba can show up in the open world next to other standard duelist.
2) Kaiba can show up at the gate.

The Kaiba you want to duel none stop is the one which shows up in the open world!

The reason why is because it is free!
It basically cost you nothing to do him in the open.

The Kaiba which shows up at the gate is the one you want to wait on!
The reason why is because he is coming at a cost!

Everything that the player Anoymous said above me is true!

Kaiba is very difficult to beat at level 40.
Ideally, You get the best drops from dueling him at level 40.

The problem is you are still new.
It takes time to build a deck to take him down.

I have been playing a month!
I have reached King of Games in PVP.

However, I still can't get a farm deck to take Kaiba down with 8k victory!
The baster is vicious!

The best strategy for the duelist at the game is to save keys until you are able to beat them for 8k.
It will takes a few months.

I want you to know something about me, Legendology!
I am an impatient & stubborn person!
People told me to wait & save my keys!
I didn't listen!

I am hard headed.
Now, I don't know if you are impatient, stubborn, or hard headed.

However, I would like to share the strategy I use!
I call it the Impatient strategy!

Patience is a virtue!
I am still trying to learn it!

The strategy I use is to try and minimize my stubbornness!

I can't wait for months saving!
I would go crazy.

However, I have found out through playing the game that you do have opportunities were the game gives you a bonus!

Most days you get normal rewards + normal points.

However, I have discovered every other week or so the game tries to help people.

If you remember, I said "Most days you get normal rewards + normal points."

Every other week I notice that the game will change something!

For example:
Week 1 = Normal reward + Normal point
Week 2 = Double reward + Normal point
Week 3 = Normal reward + Normal point
Week 4 = Normal reward + Double point

I notice they do something like that!

I can't wait for months or I go crazy.
However, I can wait a few days!

I try to wait for when they do the doubles!
Than I use my keys on the gate.

I feel like by doing this at least I get some of my keys back.
I should be saving, but I am using.

However, I am using during a time which give me double.

So I feel like it helps reduce the damage my impatience has done? Perhaps?

Doing this strategy has helped me gain 1 E.con.

In addition, I manage to get a few other powerful cards from other duelist.
I got a prismatic card from weevil.
I got 2 recruiters from Odin.

So yeah if you can't wait for months at least try to reduce the damage by waiting for when they do a bonus!

I'm slightly on the impatient side. Tired of getting destroyed in PVP lol. I think I'm on stage 16 or something. I have not unlocked Odion yet. But I was wondering Player J, would you be willing to add me?
<< Anonymous(Legendology)
Player J
Legendology, I would love to add you to my waiting list!

The game only allows a person to have 30 friends.

Once, you are max out with 30 friends.
You are giving a friends waiting list.

The waiting list is used for people who wish to be your friend.

However, They can't be your friend yet because your full.
