The answer is : Yes.
Why? Because I always use Surprise Present's skill to farm any LD (except Kaiba because you know what), and everytime I win, I always get Destroy 10 monsters from Duel Assesment. Just try it :D
It can't really just count graveyard or if it does it's a total screwup by konami as there are all kinds of weird destruction conditions such as returning to deck, extra deck (fusion deck pre-synchro era), remove from play etc.
Actually no... if an effect does not say destroy a monster or card and a monster or card is not destroyed by battle then it is not destroyed, banishing a card is not destroying, returning to the hand is not destroying, tributing for a ritual or fusion summon is not destroying... on a side note... IF IT DOES NOT GO TO THE GRAVEYARD IT IS NOT DESTROYED.
On a related note, repeatedly attacking apophis when NPC has tiki gives 10 monsters destroyed, too (and the AI always chooses to re-set it, which is a cheap way to stall while setting up your 10000+ hit against It's All Traps during a double gate key event).
You can keep attacking Apophis without having to worry about other backrow cards, since Tiki makes the two Apophis stuck to the field, permanently locking their S/T zones.
In this game words may have different meanings for example how a fusion summon isn’t a special summon but in reality it is. The game can have different terminology so don’t judge someone for not yet having that knowledge.
