Even better, play with a 30 cards deck to ensure those three monsters are in the deck.

The opening hand is determined before the monsters are set on the field, if the monster is in your hand, it won't be placed into the field.

No, the opening hand is actually determined BEFORE the monsters are placed on the field.

I know this, because I once got only 2 monsters on the field, turns out it's because the last monster is in my opening hand.
