Quick guide to darklords:
darklords like hazy can summon multiple high level monsters in one turn but the main differences are:
unlike hazy Darklord is a good turn 1 starter, Darklord is usually not an FTK deck as u will most likely have 1 or 2 monsters in defence on ur first turn, darklords have a slightly better consistency than hazy, darklords can interrupt the opposing plays.
both decks don't have Inherent ways to deal with backrows but darklord can tolerate backrows more than hazy.
Build:
Ixchel and Nastan are the main combo enablers, Ukoback opens more combo options and works best with superbia and Amdusc, Amdusc's best use is to dumb superbia or any other monster to get Darklord contact from grave, contact will likely be sent first by Ixchel, Nasten or Ukoback. Unless you have a way to sent a card to grave Amdusc will be a dead card so 1-2 copies are optimal.
you will likely need 3 copies of Ixchel, Nasten and Ukoback.
superbia better be run at 1 as it can easily be sent from the deck to grave by Ukoback, the card is usually dead in hand unless you have a way to send it to grave, superbia's effect miss timing if it get summoned by the draklord contact in the grave.
Morning Star and Desire are the main bosses, it's better to run only 1 boss monster, Desire is less bricky and can deal with some difficult situations, morning star is an OTK enabler but it's more bricky, Surperbia and Morning star are great in the mirror match.
Matchups:
Six Sam: favorable, duel weild may represent a problem
AG: 50-50
🔥 and stall decks: favorable as darklords gain life, can tribute lava golem and don't deck out.
Neos: may become difficult.
Sample Decklist.
Ryoko is really great in darklords as it mills cards in case you brick, it's also a free destruction and with the Sanctified Darlord trap Ryoko can bypass Reactor Dragon/wyvern protection.
Both decklists are pretty good: I like the fact that you didn't go too heavy on Desire and Morning Star. I also might have to agree on x1 Superbia since Ukoback can Foolish Burial it. Nice guide.
lol I didn't play the TCG at all, I really wanted to but I didn't have the chance so duellinks is my first competitive experience at YuGiOh!.
I'm new to darklords and this quick review is what I came with after playing the deck for 3 hours so it's far from being complete as I learned more by time, I just wanted to help anyone who's wondering how does the deck work and discuss it with everyone else
I also felt like Darklords is my new favorite deck, the deck is really interactive, requires crucial decisions and there are different options and techs to play this deck, I'm really trying to optimize this deck as much as I can and share it everyone.
no problem, I think it's better to not play superbia if you only have 2 Ixchels, Ryko is good but not really mandatory, it just helps if you brick, ukoback is necessary but 3 copies will usually give a consistent but weak start, if you decide to run 3 copies consider running duke shade as you can dump Ixchel then get it back to hand.
well the former screenshot is of a deck with only 2 Ixchels, I left the last spot empty so you can decide what is the final card to add.
options:
-3rd Ukoback
-Superbia: may make the deck more bricky, especially with only 2 Ixchels.
-TTH
-Trunade
-2nd Tez
-Any other tech
whatever deck choice you pick always remember to not tech so many cards to the point of hurting the deck consistency.
I never thought a monster like Texaltipoca could be a darklord card. Specially because Mexicans are very bound to earth ( lol ) but I might be wrong OFC
