If konami is afraid of negate attack, imagine firewall dragon (ace monster of yusaku probably one of the first links we can get no matter if box or skill)
Yeah, it's likely that we're going to see Firewall getting an errata sometime this year, I doubt NAS and Konami want it banned for the rest of Vrains series.
Given Firewall's Xyz counterpart has been stated to be Yusaku's new ace, I think it's entirely possible Firewall Dragon will simply appear less/not at all.
Bans of cards also don't affect the anime's use of them anyway. Performapal Monkeyboard appeared in the anime three times after its ban for example.
Monkeyboard's anime appearance after its ban are all cameos, doing nothing in the duel.
Heck one of them involves it being used merely as what amounts to discard fodder.
Besides, Monkeyboard isn't an ace card. Firewall Dragon's issue is more pressing because it is advertised as Yusaku's ace card. Plus, it is literally the only target Yusaku has right now for Firewall Xceed Dragon's effect.
Granted, NAS already used Firewall Dragon as mere Link fodder once before, but that was before the ban, so there was no issue there. They're still free to do whatever they want with it.
But now that it is banned, they have no choice and have to not promote it. Which is hard when they just promoted its support cards.
So I think it's more likely that we will see an errata in a near future, so that NAS can be free to use Firewall Dragon in anime again.
Besides, usually a banned card never show up in anime again after its ban, since the anime is used as promotion outlet, and they can't promote a card that cannot be used.
Pot of Greed is a big example of this. Spammed as hell in DM and GX due to its usefulness, but when it is banned, suddenly nobody has even a single copy in GX, 5Ds, Zexal, Arc-V, and Vrains.
Vrains is amazing, but I think the japanese respect their predecessors way too much and that's why they hold back a little while creating sequels. They don't want to be the 'Andrew' standard duelist; someone who says: "Hmph! I'll defeat you to become a legendary duelist myself". So that's why they do not unleash their full potential while doing sequels, they are very respectful.
On the other hand, there's also the issue that Vrains is directly after Arc-V, a series that snowballed into disaster they couldn't exactly recover from during/after the Synchro arc.
- Xyz arc and Fusion arc of the series are incredibly rushed due to spending too much time on Synchro arc, to a point where 1 episode is rated worse than 20 minutes of black screen by NicoNico viewers (fyi NicoNico is a very big thing in Japan).
- Unexplained plot points, such as the girls' bracelets and Yuya's pendant.
- Leo Akaba is the dumbest villain we ever have.
- One of the animators even actually complained on twitter about not knowing what they want to do with the series!
Personally, Arc-V's my second-favourite after GX. (Would have likely overtaken it if Leo and Zarc were worthwhile villains. But that's nothing new for YGO, GX is the only series that really had a noteworthy villain in Darkness/Nightshroud.)
Mostly down to the fact that despite its main cast being so large, they get an impressive amount of character development and pretty even screentime.
Among the main cast, that's true. Maybe less so for characters added along the way like Jack or Alexis, but certainly characters like Sylvio or Sora get plenty.
Arc-V, of course, did waste some character potential. It's kinda annoying that characters like Kit, Julia and Aura were built up and then mostly discarded, but that happens in all series.
Though I will say I guess I do get your point if you consider Yuto, Rin or Lulu main characters, but I don't personally. They do get a lot less screentime than they needed to. (Not that I'm especially fond of any of those characters anyway.)
