Good auto duel decks follow this scheme:
No Extra deck
10 - 15 High ATK monsters that are either level 4 or can be special summoned easily. They should have no other effects or only very few effects. The AI loves to misuse the effects
3 Power of the Guardians and maybe a few other good ATK boosting cards
Fill the rest with battle traps. DON'T USE HAND TRAPS. The AI likes to summon Kiteroid & co.
agreed Ai mine summon Giant rex equip power of guardian, next turn hes summon another 4 star and make xyz then attack hane hane and return to extra deck. im so 🔥 watching Ai duel
Yeah, it gives you headache if you watch an auto duel AI. Keep your decks as simple as possible for auto duels. The AI can and will make a lot of silly misplays otherwise

Wasn't the case a few months or year earlier. I had a fairly more complex deck and no misplay. Then, when the "auto-play friendly boring" events were a common thing they "upgraded" the AI to what it's today.
Guess they really don't like players playing auto.
Of course they don't like it. Auto Duel is originally just meant to teach newbies the basics, how to play the game with the cards they have. And Konami wants to stick to that.
So they make auto duel AI dumber and dumber to make it only able to play basic cards for newbies, but force you to play the more complex deck by yourself. You're the duelist, you're the one who is supposed to play.
So, does that mean the sign of becoming true duelist is being able to make deck that can't be played by AI? Does it mean the more your deck lose with Auto-duel, you're deck is smart and complex?
^ not really for example the AI can't handle a super heavy samurai deck however building that deck makes you a very bad player (more stu pid than bad but still bad)
AI can't even handle the most straight-forward decks.
Wanna build Neos Fusion? It's using two good monsters to tribute summon a Vanilla beater (same with Dark Magician).
Wanna build SHS? It's going to summon the monsters in ATK position sometimes
Wanna build Six Sam? It will spam Enishi's and Shien's effect at every single situation
Wanna build stall? They will summon Sphere Kuriboh and Kiteroid
I also like it when you have a stall deck and the AI switches your Celtic to ATK position to attack a face down monster and then your opponent summons a strong monster that reduces the rest of your LP to 0 because your LP are low due to similar misplays that happened before
