New players can't play optimized Amazoness. I doubt he/she's leveled Mai to 45 for queen and as far as I know they can only get two copies of princess.
My gf just opened a new account as well, there are currently no options for a Top Tier deck that does not require a heavy investment (Gem or Cash), so I would give you the same advice I gave her, build whatever you feel is best to clear your stages but save up your gems for next month's 5Ds release.
You can still claim accumulative rewards from PVP, so don't hesitate to play...jump in and play as much as you can. There are rewards for up to 120 wins, so just build the best deck you can and go for it, it'll give you a taste of what's to come next month.
