It makes the damage become double the monster's original ATK. (Likely to prevent ATK boosts from making it easier to OTK with, though it has the opposite effect here.)
That is actually a smart play by him. He purposely use trunade, then *self chain* scolding to lower his LP so titan showdown is activated then attack directly.
Titan double the monster attack hence 2800x2 = 5600
