Master Duel likely won't even have any event period, since we know there won't be any unlockable characters.

The game is likely gonna be just something like YGOPro, except the cards are still from gacha like DL (microtransaction is mentioned).

And if you think the Master Duel game will start back from the beginning of TCG again, look at the trailer again. We're getting lots of recent cards as well.

Good luck having fun with that, especially when whales are running around with the "set unbreakable board turn 1" Link decks or the "negate everything you play with handtraps turn 1" decks

Unfortunately, I don't think only whale having those combo
Unless you are using that same kind of combo, expect a turn one lockdown with zero changes of countering back
