There is one more counter I can think of against Sylvans. Aromage Rosemary has the effect of negating monster effects when attack, so assuming you have Aroma Garden or something, you can use that to safely destroy the shroom/magical merchant. Ancient Gear Beast can do the same too, and so could Wicked-Breaking Flamberge - Baou. Odds should be in your favor without the shroom/magical merchant to mass excavate.
I've been testing aromage and so far seems like a not-so-worse coinflip than sylvans. Due of Sylvans stupid OTK opportunities, you need to either start with Garden and Rosemary in your hand, or you need to have Rosemary in your hand, but have LP Alpha as a skill, so again, it comes down to starting hands
Someone was boasting how easy it was to beat Sylvan decks, and that person was running Aromage, so I probably got the wrong impression. Still, the Aromage deck already has a few cards built-in to mess with Sylvan (Spell Absorbing Life too, if you use that), that's more than most decks can say. You could always add Ultimate Providence/Forbidden Chalice/Divine Wrath/Tribute to The Doomed too.
Of course "it's easy." I'm a huge Aromage fan, but I'm not that deluded. I wish beating Sylvans was that easy, but sadly it isn't.
Adding Ultimate Providence can be really helpful since it can be used to discard one Rose Lover to avoid/destroying any potential threat, I haven't tested yet because I only have one though, I'd only run it with three. (1/2)
After that, it comes down to finish the game as fast as possible because of the huge threat that Sylvans present when they excavate Carrots and Rose Lovers. Still I'm not giving up on Aromage, I still have faith in them
Well you really can't improve how RNG works. That's why you will see how every single person in KC Cup is running Restart, because Restart is miles away of being a shit skill. Yes it gives away most of the time what deck you are playing, but is better than running Balance for example
I'm glad that you're sticking to your deck instead of giving up. I don't think Fragrance Storm is a good Sylvan counter though, because it can't target face-down cards. If a Sylvan is face-up, then it's probably already too late. I'm thinking 2 Ultimate Providence might enough. You just need 1 to stop the Sylvan opening move.
Oh, I see. Well, I guess you can compare Fragrance Storm to Super Solar Nutrient. Both has the same function (discarding Rose Lover), but Fragrance gives you 1 card, whereas Nutrient lets you search for Rosemary and allows you to use it with Jasmine too. If you're just looking to discard Rose Lover though, Tribute to the Doom could be better.
