You have about a month to claim gems in your gift box. It will give you the exact date, so just look out for anything expiring soon, this applies to anything in your gift box.
It's not hard to reach Max Gems, you just don't spend them XD. I'm almost out of gems though, I've only maxed out 3 Characters and have 2 other characters under Lv 30, the rest are Lv 40-41. The good news is we are getting 5Ds soon, so fresh gems will be coming :D
