I agree that Dark Magician got powercrept pretty hard. I also can't understand why Blue-eyes gets all their staples, and Dark Magician, the poster boy, gets arguably less than have of its own staples. We can't get Apprentice Illusion Magician, Eternal Soul, Magicians' Soul, and many other cards that Dark Magician needs. Interesting how the game has super immune cards currently like Lunalight Sabre Dancer and Bloom Diva the Melodious Choir, but heaven forbid Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon. Even with both Blues-Eyes decks and Dark Magician decks, I think both Kaiba and Yugi (both Yugis) respectively could use a skill that helps suppress bricky opening hands. Not necessarily immediate OTK, but at least a more practical skill that's not so sub-optimal for these situations. It would also make sense for the respective characters. A skill similar to "The Dragon Knight's Path" comes to mind for these situations.
