you need a Fusionmonster in your Extradeck. and you need to have the monsters required as tribute in your Hand or on the field

My issue is, I have the fusion monster in my extra deck plus the 2 material monsters in my hand, and a poly, but I can't use poly I have to set it someone please explain why I can't just play it from my hand? This has happened to me 3 times now each with me attempting to summon 3 different fusion monsters, with the exact cards I need for the fusion summon.

I have the same issue, the amount of duels I've lost because poly decides it can only be set despite me clearly having all the right ingredients it's getting ridiculous.

Same. I've got baby dragon & aligator sword in my hand + poly with the fusion monster in my extra Deck. Not working. Joke

Though i am not sure, but maybe their is an effect active that doesn't let you play a Spell Card.
Or have u read the requirements in the Fusion Monster card, as some cards like "Ryu Senshi" need the exact monsters (you can't use material substitute monsters for it).
To understand your problem properly, need to know what exactly you played and if possible what cards where there on the field.

When did you try to activate your "Poly"? Did you have any free slots in your S/T Zone?

Also are sure you have "Alligator's Sword Dragon" in your Extra Deck and not "Thousand Dragon", as both monsters require "Baby Dragon" as material, so it can cause some confusion.

If not, maybe there is a bug i guess.

I have the same problem. There goes building a Buster Blader, The Dragon Destroyer Swordsman deck.

I had a dragon type monster and buster blader on the field. Would only let me set poly. What gives? :(

I had it happen earlier. I had EHERO Heat, Lady Heat, and Neos in my hand with a Poly. I'd activated Neo Space and set a Return of Red Eyes, and suddenly for three turns straight could only set my Poly. Lost because of it. Didn't use anything on the second and third turn aside from setting a monster out of desperation. It's looking like a game bug to me most frequently found against the Vagabond.

Yep same problem trying to use it to fusion summon one of the 3 gladiator beasts and have 1 gladiator type(which is required for fusion)on the field and 1 in my hand and i cannot use this card?

Which GB fusion, because I'm very sure nearly all, if not outright ALL of the GB fusions are CONTACT FUSION, meaning they don't use Polymerization.....

No, you can't. Don't use the auto build feature. It's really, really bad.

Why can't i fusion summon a Gaia Fusion monster. It requires a poly, dark magician, and a warrior and i clearly have those on my hand yet i can only set poly is there a bug?

I had the same problem with dark cavalry. I can't stand that while I was looking for an answer I saw comments of people "mansplaining" to you /suggesting it was your error. dark cavalry is messed up. I had dark magician and buster blader and poly, wasn't able to summon dark cavalry. Buster blader is absolutely a warrior type monster so wtf is the deal? I can't figure it out either.

If people are using Heavy Starter or Balance or the like to get these high-level Fusion materials in their hand, then the skill prevents you from special summoning on your first turn.

I was having the same problem, turned out the skill I was using prohibits me from summoning an effect monster on my first turn, (dark cavalry is an effect monster) so that for me atleast is why my poly has not been working for me
