is selecting a monster the same as targeting?

i know card descriptions are very specific and some monsters are immune to targeting. So my question is if a monster cannot be targeted, can it be selected?

Select a card and target a card are interchangeable terms. So if a monster can't be targeted by effects, it is also inmune to selection.

Selectint doesn't imply targeting. But the few cards that still use the word "select" do all target afaik. Check out this link to find out more:

Select is an old term

"Select" usually indicated that a card targets

So generally, selecting will target.
And of course if a monster cannot be targeted it cannot be selected.
