Why doesn’t tribute to the doom work with their effects . I discard them and their effects don’t activate.

Card has to say "discard", Tribute to the Doomed says send 1 card to the graveyard. There is a difference with Dark World.

More importantly, discarding with Tribute to the Doomed is a cost, not an effect. Dark Worlds require discarding via card effect to work.
