Getting better to beat someone is a better character trait than just beating them every time in the first place. That's why I'm not as fond of Yugi. He doesn't really IMPROVE over the series. He's just inherently good at the game. Jaden, Yuma and Yuya all had to improve their skills over the course of the series. And I'd say all three are above Yugi in skill at the end of their respective series.
