This card cannot negate Neos Fusion during the damage step. Why can Dark Cavalry which also doesn't affect stats negate during damage step?
Anoymous
You cannot activate Neos Fusion during the damage step. What are you talking about?
Anoymous
maybe because if you send a S / T card you are indirectly increasing the atk, following the same logic it works with RESD as well. But i really don't know the answer
Anoymous
When I attacked into a brave Neos, there was a Neos Fusion in the GY. I had Spirit prepared to negate, but I wasn't prompted to activate the negate even though he did banish NF to protect BN from destruction.
His life points went to zero during the attack also, but I still expected the game to ask me if I wanted to negate or not the NF.

passive effect is not an activation

When I read the text I don't see why it would be passive instead of active when it says "when ... you can ..." and not "all destruction are negated at anytime" type of text.

read the card again, there are so many passive protection like that card, usually stating: "if ~ would be"

Interesting. All text that says:
If "subject-1" would be "event-1" you can you can "effect-1"

are passive then.
Thanks this helps a lot.

The only problem is when you don't have much time to read your opponent's card during a match.

So text starting with IF = passive
and WHEN = activation.

Most useful post for beginners yet.

That's wrong. Here's the correct answer:

Spirit Dragon can only negate the activation of a CARD while Dark cavalry can negate the activation of a card's EFFECT as well. That's the only correct answer here and it has nothing to do with IF or WHEN.

LOL wait until someone bypass your cavalry negation..

I think for Spirit Dragon you meant:
"can only negate the activation of a card's EFFECT while Dark Cavalry can negate CARD + EFFECT".

To be frank I don't really get the difference between the activation of a CARD or EFFECT even when reading it on the ruling website and all.

Can someone explain the difference between both for total beginners?

Activation>cost>effect>chaining>resolving

Example:
Battlelord and divine wrath against kiteroid

Battlelord would make kiteroid unable to activated in the first place. You cant even send kiteroid to the GY after battlelord effect take place.

On the other hand, divine wrath will only negate kiteroid after you send kiteroid to GY ( which mean it stop right after you pay the cost ).

Awesome. I finally understood it.

They should write the ruling that way for beginners to understand.

So, Neos's fusion says "you can banish this card from your GY instead." but doesn't exactly talk about an effect like "negate the destruction". So no after-cost-effect to negate.
LoL.

Neos Fusion looks more Imba the older it gets.

Thanks man.
