No Zane except for cut scenes. I thought that the second Zane in the files might be an event-only NPC, but now that he isn't here... Could this mean that Konami is actually serious about having "normal Zane" as a playable character? (It can't just be about the outfits since there was no double Chazz or Syrus in the files.) Possibly with cyber dragons? At least, there was a leaked skill with, "add 2 cyber dragons to your deck", or something like that. Idk, but right now this event feels weird without dueling him. They could have still done the graduation match. And now I don't know if he will even show up in the season 2 chronicles as the obelisk blue Zane so that you could beat him with Aster for more points. Still looking forward to torturing Syrus with the hell version while the scary music plays in the background (like Yami Marik vs. Mai in the battle city chronicles). Who knows about this possible other Zane, though.
If any of the Zane duels got in, it would've been Jaden's first duel with him, but they chose his duel against Syrus instead (which fits better anyway IMO). Zane wasn't super-important during this part of the anime. (Basically only mattering for Syrus's issues, which are already well-covered in this event.)
It's possible Zane's the Challenge Ticket opponent, however.
They couldn't add him because they would have had to give him different lines, and they weren't ready to do that, I guess. But he WAS important because it was Jaden's first loss and he never truly defeats Zane. I think the lv. 30 Zane uses a pure cyber deck without cyberdarks, so they probably could have added it if the deck was the problem here. Either way, he is still in the files.
