Got KoG with this deck within 4 hours..only lost 3 total duels , group A . There are certain cards that can be replaced such as Suijin and Riryoku which i've only used once each. Simple deck to play and very effective.

I run a quite similar deck but i get completely destroyed by harpies and sometimes a nasty Weevil, any advice?

It depends on the Water Deck Version, Dakota.
I have seen 4 different Water Deck builds.

1- Levia-Dragon Daedalus deck
2- Suijin deck
3- Hammer Shark Beat Down deck
4- Legendary Fisherman - Mako Character Deck

The first 3 builds have reached K.O.G
The 4th build is for fun.

It can be deadly.
However, I haven't seen it reach K.O.G

The decks which I believe need Needle Sunfish are #1 & #3.
I don't think you can replace him in those.

The #2 & #4 deck can survive with out Needle Sunfish.

The reason why is because of the way the Boss monsters in those 2 decks operate.

Suijin is self sufficient.
He doesn't need Needle Sunfish to reduce his opponent by 500.

Suijin has a quick effect which can reduce his opponent attack to 0!

You can almost see how Sunfish in a Suijin deck can be a little redundant!

For these reasons, You can see why replacing Sunfish is ok!

The other decks are different because they have different effects.

Sunfish isn't redundant in those decks?
Do you see how that makes sense?

Now that I have explained it to you.
I will now say some nice alternative replacements for these 2 specific decks.

Suijin Deck:
-Piercing Moray = Very Powerful! He can do piercing damage! It very good again defensive position monsters with low defense.

-Unshaved Angler = Very Good Tribute monster. You can use his effect so that he acts like 2 tribute monsters for Suijin.

The Fisherman deck is slightly different:
-Piercing Moray = He still useful in Fisherman deck

-Star Boy = He is little, but he can make Fisherman pack a big punch! Water monsters all gain 500 attack with this little guy!

-Piranha Army = You can sometimes add 1 of him to be sneaky! The idea is to get him to attack directly! Any damage he does is double trouble!

The important part is lay them all out so you can make a decision!
Your deck doesn't have to be 100% the same as everyone else deck.
It can have its own special unique touch!
