This card specifically states it inflicts the damage to your opponent, even if your opponent is the one controlling the monster you equipped with this card.
I learned this the hard way. I was wondering why Duke equipped my monster with it, and I had a 5400 attack monster attack his face down monster with 200 defense.. and lost the duel by taking 5200 points of damage....
