Oh it's definitely for the reason anyone think of : it has a terrible effect.
That's the reason too in OCG/TCG. Nobody use this card unless they play Scar-Red Nova, and even then, this card is only used as material fodder.
Not much players play Defense Position monsters even back then in 5Ds era, and destroying your own Defense Position monsters when you do control them, is usually a bad idea.
