You have to win a duel in the tag duel tournament to gain coins. If you win a regular duel, you won't get any coins.

There does seem to be an issue with the coins, instead of adding coins from a tag duel to the total, they're replacing the previous amount

They replied with an ad.

It's only a graphical bug. You get the normal amount of coins. Only the total that they show you at the end of the duel is incorrect.
