Can forbidden chalice make it able to attack directly?

but be cautious ... you cannot use chalice at damage step so he can easily use canadia on it and you waste your chalice

umm, Chalice modified ATK, so yes, it CAN be activated during Damage Step.

In fact it's actually Canadia that's cannot be activated during Damage Step.

Giant Rex is not able to attack the opponent directly, so you are forced to activate Chalice before declaring the attack.
