They were never meta even in DL lol

And even in real life, the only ones that ever becomes meta are their Synchro, which are generic. None of the non-Synchro Ice Barriers ever see any real use.

I’ve barriers were infamous for having the best spell trap and synchros but absolutely terrible main deck. They have a dedicated rota spell, why?

Well it's pointless to have a good ROTA if there's no good target to search.

Okay, there are a couple good targets....but just a couple monsters do not make a deck, especially if their effect doesn't really synergize with each other.
