The most common traps can easily hande this card.
-Drowning Mirror Force sends it flying
-Floodgate locks it to face down and
-Canadia turns it to face down for at least a turn. Both of which gives you a chance to destroy while face-down and effect won't be triggered.
Monster effects can't activate in the Main Deck, barring a couple of exceptions like Serpentine Princess that specifically do so, so Drowning will indeed counter it for what it's worth.
By OP's logic, only Jinzo should be top tier, since most other monsters can be shut down by trap cards. Surely there's no other deck that can come prepared for back row, right?
Or maybe you're looking for the wrong excuse to hate on a fun card.
