You can win in this event using plenty of decks such as Hazy Flames, Amazoness, Sylvans, Spellbooks with the grass is greener, AROMAGES. Even the so called "overpowered" fur hires are not that expensive, they are actually pretty cheap lol !

Yeah, back in the old days, f2p can't compete like now because mirror wall is pretty much staple in every single top tier decks. They should be grateful konami supports f2p more.

I use 8k gems to get 3 beat but only need 3k gems to get a full spellbook deck.

I just run either sea stealth attack with legendary fisherman 2, works against pretty much every deck.

you need 3 secrets and 3 blue guy (sometimes 1-3 SoL) to build decent spellbook deck, while with only 2 beat in fur hires you can build decent fur hire deck. clearly spellbook is more expensive
