Theres some other card from 5D's... it was called scrap something or junk something, it allows you to special summon a monster besides your normal summon as well. Some other guys prefer Snowman and Canadias, there are plenty of ways actually to play this deck.
Paleozoics can work. Pikaia gives you drawing, Marrella gives you deck thinning and can be activated whenever, Canadia and Hallucigenia gives you some defense, then turn them into monsters at the start of your opponents end phase to give you tribute fodder.
