You only need 6 of each card type for it to work, but your drawing chances are lowered.

balance 30 cards = 10 monsters 10 magics and 10 traps

I've eperimented with both. That grass looks greener and a 30 card deck makes this dekc much less consistent.

With just 20 cards you have a better control of the stuff on your graveyard & are able to get better use of it
