I just can see it, there will be lots of questions about this card in the future, due to its effect being only able to respond to built-in/inherent Special Summon, and cannot respond to Special Summon that starts a Chain/occur due to resolution of a card's effect (since you cannot interrupt a card in the middle of resolving).
Maybe GameA should quickly mention the most important rulings for that card on this page. But I guess some people would still not read it and complain that the card is bugged XD
Wrong!! Levianeer's special summon can be negated because it special summon itself by banishing dark and/Or light monsters!! It isn't special summoned using another cars effect(Spell/Trap/monster effect)! For example, a fusion summon cannot be negated by ROACH! That's because cards and effects cannot be activated during the resolution of another card!!
there will be some missplays around this card, thats for sure. still, for what i've understand, synchro and xyz can be negated. ritual is like fusion, because you have to wait for the ritual resolves
Wait for you know who to make a series of 5 videos of 1 hour each, full of clickbait and exaggerations just to explain roach, when the comment above explained clear and simple.
Do you have a mind?? Looks like you don't!!
Roach functions just like Solemn warning(for example)!!
You are so smart to think that you can prevent your special summon from being negated by taking advantage of chain blocking method.Darling, when you attempt to special summon chaos dragon(by banishing from the GY, your opponent will be able to activate ROACH's effect.
You can't even activate levianeer's effect when your opponent would activate ROACH's effect, that's because your monster didn't hit the field, and ROACH'S special ability activates during the pre-summoning phase. Same thing goes with solemn warning for example. Both, ROACH and SOLEMN WARNING negate a special summon that doesn't start a chain!
Levianeer will still be negated even if it was banishing Thunder Dragons. In sequence:
1. Levianeer attempting to SS by banishing TDs
2. Roach negates the SS, destroy it and send it to GY
(3. Levianeer's effect won't activate since it was not successfully summoned)
4. Both Thunder Dragons effect will activate
Your levianeer won't have the chance to activate it's effect, because it didn't hit the field yet!! You can't even chain any other cards to protect him. The ONLY thing that can protect your monster is a counter trap(Like Divine Wrath), or any other effect that has the ability to negate other cards!!
Agreed!! It's evident that thunder dragons will still be able to chain, but they cannot block ROACH's effect from resolving!! They may chain immediately after the activation of ROACH's effect!! The chain blocking method won't work!!
Chain blocking would work in this case;for example, levianeer successfully summoned activate it's effect, then thunder dragons activate their effects, in this time the other player cannot counter levianeer with divine wrath for example. Thanks to thunder dragons blocking the chain!! But the other player will still be able to activate divine wrath, but it will ONLY counter thunder dragon!!
It's true that JINZO prevent the activation of trap cards/trap effects, but it's not the case with SOLEMN WARNING/HORN OF HEAVEN for example.these counter traps activate even before JINZO hits the field(during the pre-summoning phase)!!in this case Jinzo's effect is not applying yet!!
