So I just realized how NONE of the top global decks @last KC CUP had 20 cards in it.
All of them were 21-22 card decks, sometimes even 24 cards. Pretty interesting.
I think that's because decks like vampires can search 3 to 4xs a turn. So pitting an extra 2 to 3 cards in didn't hurt as much since by turn 4 they're close to half there deck
Some of the competitive players from japan play 24 cards for a reason that I'm not really sure about. But they use quite a big amount of heavy backrow. Like 3 canadia + 3 floodgate. So their hands always have a decent chance to survive.
Yeah, with more searching and deck thinning, running more cards is fine now.
Like AG deck for example, Wyvern can search key cards, while Geartown summons monster directly from the deck. This makes deck size less relevant for AG decks, so they can afford running 21-23 cards if they want to.
