What is forbidden/limited card?

Forbidden cards are essentially "banned" cards, while limited simply means that you can only put 1 in a deck, semi-limited is up to two in your deck only. Some cards in the OCG/TCG are either forbidden, or limited, and this is due to their ability to create an unbalanced experience for the game.

Ruling

Unlike in the TCG/OCG where you can have multiple limited cards with different names in your deck, in Duel Links you can only have a total of 1 limited card in your deck. For example you have limited card A and limited card B, and you already put 1 card A in your deck, you cannot add card B to your deck even if they are not cards of the same name.
This rule is also true for semi-limited cards in which you can only have a total of 2 semi-limited cards in your deck.

I'm actually hoping Fur Hire would still plague the meta. Because then that means a second, bigger hit is coming, as Fur Hire still dominating the meta would convince them to 🔥 the deck to ensure next packs sell.

That's the only way we can finally see the deck killed instead of just being given a small slap.

i still find 2 dynas in ranked :/

Kaiba said: it's illegal to use cards which cause direct damage to player or monster.

Well, although it is not completly direct damage BUT the special condition it requires is not disadvantage at all. It adds more advantages and you called that requirement to destroy!
<< Anonymous
Anonymous Reply
How that particular rule was enforced seems pretty arbitrary. Hinotama's banned, but a card like Ring of Destruction, Coffin Seller, Black Pendant or Blast Held by a Tribute is apparently fine.
<< Anonymous
Anonymous Reply
Weird, right? Those card do not fit with tribute summon rule. My high level card always stay at my hand till the end of the duel
Anonymous
I guess I'm gonna wait till august 29 before I play again haha. diversity of opponents' decks makes this game playable :D
Anonymous
Here’s an idea. How about somebody informs Konami that they should pre-set restrictions BEFORE the box and structure deck releases! Sadly; the only cards from both that I’ve seen Restricted are N and R cards and none of the SR and UR..
<< Anonymous
Anonymous Reply
If there is no important SR/UR, they would get less profit.....

You never heard about the Cyberdark Impact OCG/TCG fiasco? The set is famous for being shunned by players because the only usable cards are merely Common and Rare, while the Super, Ultra, Ulti, and Secret rares are useless.
Anonymous
please re add exodia the forbidden one starting September 01 for one month and also could you add obelisk for the same period. and possibly duo duel as well sort of like a tag team 2 on 2
<< Anonymous
Anonymous Reply
What do you mean "re-add Exodia"? He's in the game but through Yugi's Grandpa's Cards Skill. Obelisk I understand because we need to have all three Gods. But Exodia? I doubt they're gonna do another Exodia event where everyone has Grandpa's Cards

Did people even use their brain? This banlist doesn't change much, both deck will not dead. Stop being a crybaby.

If you only used Wiz to win as Fur Hires, then you either had Donpa to clear the field or you raised your ATK with Beatdown... which will now only affect Wiz so any 1900 ATK beater will stop your battle phase since you can't even econ take them either unless you give up one Donpa.

Learn some tech choices then if that's an issue... Be innovative and make something interesting that keeps it competitive or makes it even more competitive. The only time that it's potentially dead is if they outright ban a card.

ummm spells and traps, beast rising can make dyna well over 2000 atk, use equip cards

Needs to be careful in deckbuilding though, changing/adding cards into your deck changes the flow of the deck.

in the survey I ask for a new type of semilimitado: to be called (3) and be something like 2 + 1.

you can not put 3 different cards, only two and one of them that is repeated

P.S. is something that I think will serve in DL

Si la propuesta tiene demanda, capaz y si lo toman en cuenta. También están probando el formato actual, así que hay esperanza. Yo voy a sugerir la lista tradicional ilimitado para PVE para facilitar el farmeo en eventos.

I don't understand how konami can put 3 cyber angel cards in the same ban list.At least make some of them limited so we can actually use them instead.

Saladfingers Reply
The proposal made above would be a blend between Limited and Semi-Limited, where we could run a max of 2 copies of a card listed and a max of 2 different cards from the list. We could essentially choose which cards to use 2 or 1 of, but never more than 2 different cards at a time from the ban list. Sounds interesting too.

Too many deck dead And unplayable because this list :
1.tea burn
2.cyber angel
3.bamboo otk
4.sylvan,mill deck and weevil burn
5. Silent swordsman otk.

CA Nerfs Reply
Nonono you got it wrong.
The correct versions should be:

Nerf deck A, release CA.
(1 month later)
Nerf CA, release deck B.
(Another month later)
Nerf deck B and CA, release deck C.

Rinse and repeat.
<< Anonymous

What did they do to CA this time?

Drew Reply
Dakini should go to 3. Petit Angel and Machine Angel Ritual can stay semi limited. So at least they’re playable.
Anonymous
Well, it's not a surprise that Dyna is limited now. For those who don't know, when you summon two Dynas on the field, your opponent can no longer attack you at all (the game doesn't even show you the option to attack), and that's really broken. I always wondered if that was intended or if it was just a glitch.
<< Anonymous
Anonymous Reply
Type #1 prevents attacks except to "this card", and if there are two Dyna on the field, it creates a lock because you can't attack two cards at the same time.

Type #2 doesn't lock your attack, only your attack target. This is because it simply prevents you from attacking anything not named "Madolche Chouxvalier". So attacking either Chouxvalier is still a valid move.
<< Anonymous
Saladfingers Reply
lol, I forgot about those. I guess they would fall under a soft lock effect since they only limit attack targets, but they still are a variant of attack locks. All of which are intentional and were carefully planned during their design. :D
<< Anonymous
Makrov krauz Reply
Not sure if it's just me but I didn't encounter a single dyna lockdown ever when climbing the ladder, not on this season or the previous one plus nowadays I believe everyone runs monster destruction cards on his/ her deck, I'm not sure how this limitation going to 🔥 fur-hire(dunpa being semi limmited matters tho) but we will see!
<< Anonymous(Makrov krauz)
Saladfingers Reply
It doesn't happen most of the time because they are usually winning the game by the time a second Dyna is hitting the field...or in no position at all to be dropping/searching a second Dyna to begin with. It's a combo vulnerable to almost every staple being played, so it's not gonna happen unless it needs to.
Drew
Cyber Angel Nerfs were too hard 1 of them should come back to 3.
<< Anonymous(Drew)
Anonymous No. 2 Reply
I agree. Cyber Angel Petit semi-limit was complete bullsht.
With 1 Dakini and 1 MAR already in deck (mandatory for any ritual play), and both being semi-limited, that pretty much banned Petit from the game.
It's been proven multiple times than semi-limiting a card can be much worse than limiting it to one.
<< Anonymous(Anonymous No. 2)
Yang Reply
It's actually still possible to use CA effectively in the modern DL format, but the technicality makes it harder to play, though you can get consistent results if you play very, very carefully.(in theory and experimentation). From research, I'd rate it about tier 1,5-2 if we ignore FHs
