How to unlock starting character?

I started with Kaiba because I was sure a lot of people were going to choose Yugi.. now I know dueling Kaiba unlock enemy controller and I cant duel him because I started with him.. will i ever unlock Kaiba? cause now I feel like I am in a disadvantage since yugi reward sucks.

Just use Joey and duel Kaiba, or wait until you have Yugi. And enwmy controller is an SR card you won't get it til Kaiba's lvl.30, or 40

You shouldn't farm enemy controller until a bit later in stages anyway. By then you'll have Yugi as well

You will unlock the other character that you didn't choose when you started the game at stage 16, which is yugi for you. After you unlock yugi, you can use him to duel kaiba from the gate.
