They only ways to change this consistently is Curse of Anubis which is limited. Still its condition still suck.

Keeping this card mode than 1 turn then wait another turn to use frog is a chore and waste of time/resources when you can summon many things better.

Right now we have Econ, Super Rush, Desert Sunlight, Anubis and Labyrinth of Nightmare. So keeping him alive is certainly possible. You could set something up if you can dump frog. Its purely as tribute fodder or a defensive mon. All I wanna say is it has its use someway. A lekunga token deck perhaps? Haha. But, to give you something, of all the knights, this is the worst one.
