Season 2 was a regression overall except for Bruno and the cool endgame (which the dub never got. :/)
The best 5D's has been was the DS Arc for sure.

Yeah, it's because 5Ds is initially planned to only last until the Dark Signer arc, so the arc had a lot of thoughts and planning put into it.

Crow wasn't supposed to be a Signer, in fact he was the one initially planned to be a Dark Signer, not the Chacu Challhua guy.

Rua is supposed to become a Signer and debut Life Stream Dragon in the Duel against Demak, defeating him alongside Ruka and AFD.

I think the Heart mark is never part of the original plan, what would have happened is that Rua would've gotten the Tail mark, while Yusei got the Head mark.
